Amanda Newell of The Fry Group opened the event and was joined by two guest speakers Susanna Di Feliciantonia – Head of European Affairs at ICAEW & Sonal Bahl Career Strategist at SuperCharge.
The general theme of the evening, resulting from feedback from the launch event in January, centred on the importance of negotiation.
Subsequently, Sonal explained the importance of negotiation in the workplace based on her knowledge gained working as a HR Director. The gender wage gap remains a big issue today and Sonal gave several insightful tips on how to negotiate for higher salaries and benefits.
Susanna continued by pointing out the consequences of receiving a lower salary than a man which ultimately explains why there is such a difference in the pension gender gap and why women receive far less in retirement than a man does.
Amanda concluded by discussing the specific pension and savings options available here in Belgium, depending on your employment status. She explained the State pension offering and explored how to set up complimentary pensions to ensure your retirement is an enjoyable one.
The event was well attended with plenty of audience participation. We are looking forward to hosting the final event of the Women & Money series at our offices in September. More details about our events are available here.
