Tax Advice for Pilots

Pilots Tax AdviceThe tax treatment of pilots can be complex. Pilots fall into an unusual category because generally any duties performed in the UK will be regarded as falling into our tax regime.

Many pilots seek to achieve non-residence status. The benefits of this are notable – once non-resident status is achieved any salary and investment income arising overseas will be outside of the UK income tax net. However, care with residence status must be taken as HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) is in the process of tightening its rules in this area. More information is available on our Residence page.

The Fry Group has been helping pilots for many years. During this time, we have guided over one hundred pilots through HMRC investigations. Three quarters of these investigations have resulted in a positive outcome for the client. Our experience means we have detailed knowledge of this complex area and can help you meet the increasingly strict guidelines and warn you of any areas which may cause concern.

More information is available in our ‘Pilots – Income Tax Considerations’ guide in our online Members Library.
